The A'Man'dments: The Things We Wish Women Knew About Us

"You might see me in the streets, but homie you don't KNOW...ME!" T.I., "You Don't Know Me" The quote applies to many more people and circumstances than the popular Atlanta rapper probably ever imagined. Based on our own experiences, we often make assumptions in life, steadfast in the thought we know exactly how a situation will turn out. Likewise, we take this stance with people. When meeting or interacting with someone, we tend to draw comparisons to people that generated a similar emotion from our earlier years. The actual conversation seems like Deja Vu, which leads us to react a certain way. This also causes us to think we KNOW how a person "is", treat them accordingly, and subconsciously try to predict their thoughts and actions. By most standards experience is the greatest teacher in life, but it is a dangerous game to ever think you really know a person without being around them frequently and also getting their input. Why ...

The Evolution of My New Year's Resolutions

Keeping a New Year's Resolution is not that unrealistic. A list of goals...with no direction? Plans'll make her dance.  It's a pressure-filled demand to overhaul an aspect of your life. Is it impossible? Hell nah! Saying it's time for a "New Year, New You" does cause concern, however. We should not deny the positives that rose from the previous year; some of our greatest blessings have surfaced during our darkest moments.  Making upgrades to our life does offer a beneficial alternative; my frat brother termed it "A New Year,  Better  You". If iPads and iPods can add features every year, so can we. So what do we work on? Here's a new look on some common areas. Finance. It is a goal of most to make that "papuh", but how many of us are properly utilizing and maintaining the money we already have? For the last year, I've worked to apply the "Charles Perry Financial Game Plan". Dad's advice is simple....

The Y.Me Way: Smooth Talking for Suckers (Reprinted from "The Y.M.e Way")

Check out my recent article from the online magazine, "The Y.M.e Way". The Y.Me Way: Smooth Talking for Suckers: How To "Say" The Right Thing : Being suave is not as easy as me and T.I. make it seem. In all seriousness, to be considered charming is an asset of great value...

You Must Be This Tall To 'Ride': The Life of the 5'10 and Under Brother

I'm not short. Well, by my standards. According to Wikipedia, the average height in the United States for males is 5'10. My height varies from 5'7 to about 5'10, depending on who I'm talking to. I'll throw 5'10 out as bait and see who bites, working my way back to my true height of 5'7. As most vertically challenged men will reiterate, being considered short is extremely difficult to compensate for. Jagged edge teeth? Braces or Invisalign will get you straight. Acne? Rick Ross would tell you very bluntly: Proactiv got that Justin Beiber, please believe ya . Follow the program and you're cleared up. There's a solution for many conditions, but height has yet to be countered.  For the brother listed at 5'10, consider yourself Lil' Wayne: excuse the poor English, but "y'all ain't got no worries ." Guys standing at 5'9 and under, however, have a little work on their hands. You have to be exceptional at the other ...

Playa Hating From The Sideline: Who's Really Plotting On Your Boo

I see you creeping in the background. You're not slick; fall back. The "you" I'm referring to is the current or future guy who meddles in my relationship. I'm not trying to speak this travesty into existence, or bore you by blabbering on about my love life. The topic is being addressed because the playa hater aka "crab in a bucket", "Buster" Douglas, or PB (doesn't stand for peanut butter) is on the prowl, and their tactics can cause serious detriment to those looking for love. In an early episode of the classic TV sitcom, "Martin", the title character becomes concerned when Gina begins to hang out with a male coworker named  Wallace . His entry into Gina's circle was that he participated in tasks men generally hate, like shoe shopping. Your girl and her best friend: They're just so close... so close...too damn close. While Wallace was not actually pushing up on Gina, there are plenty of men (and women...ladie...

That's The Way To Start The Day: Best Cereals of All-Time

I remember it like it was yesterday (it was): coming downstairs early in the morning to the kitchen with a smile. Happy that God (or "Father God" as he is known in Black churches) had given me another day, I celebrated by reaching in the cabinet and grabbing a box of cereal, man's most unique creation. I'm clearly being facetious, but cereal is absurdly tasty. Cereal is one of the first dishes to combine the sweet taste of dessert with the nutrition needed to kick your day in gear. In addition, cereal is quick paced, so you can eat and roll. Any time that box is next to the bowl, fun and goodness will occur. Though cereal is enjoyed by adults, the food is more commonly associated with the good-hearted nature of children. It is synonymous with Saturday mornings, cartoons, and pajamas. Every person has grown attached to a few particular boxes of breaded goodness, and I am no different. Today, we highlight the greatest cereals of all-time. Cinnamon Toast Cru...
