With the recent release of CrazySexyCool, the biopic of
legendary female singing group TLC, the question has arose about who should be
the next group to receive a documentary highlighting their music career. There
are several artists who qualify to have their life detailed in a film, but as
an eccentric young man from the suburbs
I have a list of singers and groups outside of mainstream America's
perspective that would make for entertaining (if not great) flicks.
Ginuwine- "Too" Anxious/Pony Ride: The Ginuwine
Story
With his untold story of battles with addiction, S-curls, and the timeless "So Anxious" dance scene, "The Bachelor" offers an intriguing script for the small screen.
Kirk Franklin- Skinny Jeans for Jesus
The host of Sunday's Best and owner of classic gospel tunes such as, "Smile", "Something About The Name Jesus", and "Stomp" deserves credit for adding mainstream appeal to the gospel music industry and paving the way for artists like Dietrick Haddon and Tye Tribbett.
Jodeci- Ooh YEAH! The Life and Times of Jodeci
The Bad Boys of R&B were the torch bearers of the the genre following the New Jack Swing era and remain one of the last great male singing groups. The group is notorious for the wild life and escapades during their hey day, and the captivating personality of lead singer Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey set up for must see TV. Furthermore, the group lent themselves to one of the most hilarious moments in Black sitcom history.
The Forgotten Members of Destiny's Child- We Messed Up
Destiny's Child former members LaTavia Robinson, Letoya Luckett, and Farrah Franklin are the forgotten faces of the most successful female group of all time. With the exception of Luckett (who returned to the spotlight as a solo artist and tv show host) the ladies never got to tell their side of the story.
Chad Hugo- How an Asian Man Saved Hip-Hop
Chad Hugo, the other half of the legendary producer team The Neptunes, quietly changed the face of Hip Hop. Often cast in the shadow of partner Pharrell Williams, Hugo's knack for putting the final touches on rap classics has long been overlooked.
(Fan Choice) Sisqo-Thong Song Gone Wrong
Music withstood...shouldn't this picture be reason enough for a look into the mind of Sisqo?
What wild and crazy ideas do you have for the next big biopic? Post your suggestions below for artist and movie title, and we'll post the best movies on Friday!
